What is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder?  Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD, is an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened. Traumatic events that may trigger PTSD include violent personal assaults, natural or human-caused disasters, accidents, or military combat. Women Reaching Women is a safe place and we are here to help support women and children who may be suffering from PTSD no matter what the cause. Military or non-military, we are here for you.

 

Growing up I often suffered bouts of depression. I was abused, rejected, and abandoned by my parents and other adults that I trusted and befriended.  Little did I know as an adult that the incidents and emotions that I refused to face were like demons in the closet. They would show up when I least expected to haunt my mind and soul.  Rejection, failure, or disappointment were usually what would open the door from my past and trigger a deep sadness that I could not explain.  Little did I know that I suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
